About this spot
Rubicon Point sits inside D.L. Bliss State Park on Lake Tahoe's west shore, reached via the Rubicon Trail or a short walk from the day-use area near the historic Rubicon Point lighthouse. Granite ledges rise above exceptionally clear, deep water, with documented jumps from roughly 10 to 40 feet. Jumping is popular enough to be a recurring local-news subject, and also the site of multiple fatalities, including a drowning and a death from striking a submerged ledge when lake levels were low. Posted park signs explicitly prohibit jumping and diving here, so it happens at jumpers' own legal and physical risk. The water is cold year-round, and underwater ledges shift with lake level, so always scout before jumping.
