About this spot
Kimtu Beach is a day-use sandbar and gravel beach on a bend of the Trinity River in Six Rivers National Forest, reached via Kimtu Road off Highway 299 in Willow Creek, past Camp Kimtu. Willow Creek Community Services District operates it under a Forest Service permit; a parking fee applies (season permits at the district office) and vehicle access to the gravel bar is roughly summer-only. Jumps are modest — well under 25 ft, off streamside rocks rather than a true cliff. The Trinity runs cold year-round and current is the real danger here: this exact stretch has multiple drownings on record, including summer 2026. Treat any visible current as stronger than it looks and stay out at high flow.
