About this spot

Starting from Lake Shore Boulevard, head west on Big Bay Road and continue until you spot signage for Little Presque Isle. Use the available parking area and proceed to the beach on foot. Wade through approximately 2 feet of water to reach the island. An established trail runs along the eastern side of the island—follow this pathway to its terminus. Beyond the trail's end, locate rock formations descending toward the east; this area contains suitable jumping locations. Multiple cliff heights are present, ranging from 13 feet up to 50 feet. A 21-foot jump requires significant horizontal distance to clear between-rock formations, though this jump presents manageable difficulty once executed properly. The 50-foot option demands precise positioning to land in the gap between rocks positioned about 5 feet apart, staying clear of the water's edge. Ascending back up the cliff face is straightforward. Be prepared for Lake Superior's typically frigid water temperatures. The site attracts other visitors and functions as a social gathering location. This spot suits experienced jumpers comfortable with variable water conditions and technical rock clearances.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
