About this spot
A remote 55-60 foot waterfall on Miser Creek in Pisgah National Forest, named for waterfall explorer Bernie Boyer. The roughly 5-mile round-trip hike ends with a tricky, often wet and slippery rock crossing to reach the base, which is considered hazardous for inexperienced hikers, kids, or dogs. Overhanging cliffs frame a tall freefall section. The falls is documented across multiple hiking and waterfall guides, but none describe an established swimming or jumping culture — the crossing hazard and remoteness make it primarily a hiking and photography destination.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
