About this spot
Lower Bearwallow Falls sits deep in Gorges State Park, reached via an 8.7-mile round trip on the Auger Hole Trail that includes an unbridged Toxaway River crossing (wet feet required, can be dangerous at high flow). It's a genuinely popular backcountry destination among waterfall hikers (100+ AllTrails reviews), but reports focus on scenery and photography rather than swimming or jumping. Trails are steep and slick in spots; best visited June-November when the river ford is safer.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
