About this spot

Paradise Falls (also called Wolf Creek Falls) sits in a narrow slot canyon on Wolf Creek below the Wolf Creek Lake dam near Tuckasegee. Reach it via a rough half-mile path off Caney Fork Road, wading a thigh-deep creek crossing before a steep, rope-assisted scramble down to the base — park roadside, no lot. The canyon has pothole-carved rock and deep pools with recognized jumps from about 12 to 60ft. Biggest hazard: this is a dam-controlled stream with occasional emergency releases (a siren sounds — get out fast), and the ledge atop the falls is fatal if you slip. Alcohol-related injuries are common. It's on Nantahala National Forest/adjoining private land, not an official swim area, but it's a long-running local cliff-jumping destination covered in magazines, canyoneering guides, and countless videos.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
