About this spot
Sols Creek Falls is a tall (120-150 ft, sources vary) cascade near Bear Creek Lake in Nantahala National Forest. The base sits on private property — locals report no posted signage and regular informal visitation, but reaching it on foot technically means crossing private land. The legal, no-trespass option is paddling across Bear Creek Lake from the public boat landing off NC 281 to view the upper section. At this height and with private-land access issues, this is a viewing/wading spot rather than a jump spot; spray is powerful even at normal flow.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
