About this spot
Upper Bald Knob Falls sits on an unnamed tributary of Tanasee Creek in the Nantahala National Forest (public land), part of the rugged Tanasee Creek gorge system that also holds the better-known Cavern Falls, reached off Wolf Mountain Road. No maintained trail exists to this specific drop; access is an off-trail bushwhack through steep, rhododendron-choked terrain with slick, unstable rock. No trip reports, photos, or forums document swimming or jumping here, so treat it as an unproven, remote waterfall rather than a known swim spot.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
