About this spot

Wolf Creek Falls, long informally called Paradise Falls, drops about 80-105 feet through a slot-canyon gorge in Nantahala National Forest just below the Wolf Creek Lake dam, near Panthertown Valley on the Jackson/Transylvania county line (the original CliffScout pin was misplaced roughly 40 miles east near Hendersonville; corrected here). Park near the small pulloff by the dam off NC-281 and follow a steep, unmarked user trail into the gorge. Swim the cold plunge pool to the canyon entrance, then rope up slick rock for documented jumps from about 12 to 60 feet into deep potholes. Flow is dam-controlled and can be low or surging without warning, and rescues have occurred here — scout every jump fresh, never jump blind, and expect no cell signal.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
