About this spot
Lake Creek Falls sits on OR-36 between Mapleton and Junction City near Triangle Lake, Blachly, OR. A small parking lot with a trailhead sits across the highway from the falls; it's roughly a quarter-mile walk down stairs to the water. Jump platforms run about 25 and 35 feet (the 100-foot figure sometimes listed refers to a separate natural rock slide downstream, not a jump height). Below the falls, cascading pools feed that slide, a roughly 100-foot gentle rock chute that empties into a warmer wading pool. Flow varies hugely by season - fast, cold, and higher-volume in winter/spring, calmer by summer - and slick rock plus sudden depth changes are the main hazards for both jumpers and sliders.
