About this spot

Lower Wildcat Falls (also called Wildcat Branch Falls, part of Wildcat Wayside) is a roadside 30-foot waterfall directly off SC-11/Geer Highway in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, with free pull-off parking right at the pool and no hike required. It empties into a large, shallow swimming hole that's a well-documented, popular summer destination, with food vendors often set up along the highway shoulder. The pool is shallow and rocky, making it better suited to wading and cooling off than jumping; algae-slicked rocks and heavy summer crowding are the main hazards. This is a separate, safer feature from Upper Wildcat Falls a short trail away, where the SC State Park Service has closed base access after multiple fatal falls — stay at the lower pool.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
