About this spot

Sweet Thing on Slickum is a hidden waterfall on Slickum Creek in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness, upstate South Carolina, reached via an unmarked trail from Wildcat Wayside off US-276/SC-11 (free roadside/lot parking). The path climbs past Last Falls and follows the creek upstream about half a mile on rough, sometimes overgrown ground. The falls drop roughly 15-18 feet in a freefall over a hollowed rock ledge into a grotto-like plunge pool deep enough to swim, with a shallow shelf out front and room to stand behind the curtain. The trail is unofficial and unmaintained, and the rock ledge and approach get slick, so footing near the lip is the hazard that matters most. No permits or fees are required on this national forest/wilderness land, but it is remote enough that cell service and rescue access are limited.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
