About this spot
Cedar Creek Falls is a roughly 15-foot drop in Sumter National Forest that spills directly into Blue Hole Falls just downstream, reached via Rich Mountain Road (FS744) off SC-28 near Mountain Rest on a rugged 1.3-mile round-trip hike that includes fording the creek above the falls. The deep, blue-green pool at the base draws swimmers and jumpers, and cliff-jumping clips from this exact spot circulate on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. The real hazard is footing: the rock surrounding the pool is notoriously slick, many hikers use a rope to descend safely, and water clarity and depth shift with rainfall. It's public national forest land, free to visit, no permit needed.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
