About this spot

Fall Creek Falls is a series of three cascades (roughly 30-50 ft each) along a mile-plus stretch of Fall Creek near Mountain Rest, SC, reached from a Forest Service Road 722 trailhead off Chattooga Ridge Road in Sumter National Forest. The lower falls are easy to reach; the trail downstream toward the Chattooga River grows unmarked and overgrown, and footing on wet rock gets treacherous. Multiple hiking guides describe wading and cooling off in the plunge pools, though dedicated cliff-jumping accounts are thin. No fee or facilities; parking is roadside. Water volume and safety vary with rainfall, so hedge on current conditions before visiting, and be cautious of slick rock past the first falls.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
