About this spot

Isaqueena Falls is a 100-foot cascade in Stumphouse Park, part of Sumter National Forest about six miles north of Walhalla, South Carolina. A short five-minute walk from the parking lot reaches a viewing platform; a steeper, unofficial trail drops to the base. The city-run park is open daily 10am-5pm and charges a $5 parking fee for non-Walhalla residents. Downstream of the main cascade, the creek carves a natural rock slide into a small swimming hole that draws local swimmers in warm months. The falls carry a well-known Cherokee legend of a leap survived, cementing its popularity for generations. Main hazard: the base trail and slide rocks are steep, wet, and slick, and flow varies seasonally, so conditions should be checked before swimming or sliding.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly.
