About this spot
Suter Falls is a roughly 50-foot cascade in Savage Gulf State Natural Area near Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee, reached via the Collins West or South Cumberland trailheads on a steep, often slippery mile-long descent that crosses a cable suspension bridge. The plunge pool below draws hikers for a cooling swim in warm months, though there are no lifeguards and conditions vary with rainfall and flow. The hazard that matters: Tennessee State Parks explicitly prohibits climbing on or jumping from the rocks at any Savage Gulf waterfall, so treat this as a look-and-wade spot, not a jumping spot. Footing on wet rock ledges near the falls is treacherous, and rescue access is remote. Parking is free at trailhead lots; no fees.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
