About this spot
Lower Calf Creek Falls is reached via a 6.2-mile round-trip hike from the Calf Creek Campground trailhead off Utah Scenic Byway 12, with a small parking/day-use fee. The trail passes ancient granaries and pictographs before reaching a 130-foot waterfall dropping into a deep, spring-fed pool. An upper ledge offers a roughly 10-foot jump into deep water, and hikers also jump into slickrock potholes downstream — some shallow, some over your head, so check depth first. The hike is fully exposed with little shade and can be brutally hot in summer; carry more water than you think you need. A 2025 cyanobacteria bloom advisory means avoid drinking from or ingesting the creek water. Open year-round, though snow can complicate winter visits.
