About this spot
Buttermilk Falls sits in Okemo State Forest, reached via an easy roughly one-mile trail off Buttermilk Falls Road with free trailside parking; footing has roots, stones, and short scrambles. Branch Brook drops through lower, middle, and upper tiers, each feeding its own pool, with a large streamside boulder at the first falls that jumpers use to launch into the plunge pool below. The furthest-upstream pool, sometimes called Bridal Veil Falls, is the deepest section and the one locals cliff-jump into. Water is clear, cold, and shallow in spots—depth shifts with rainfall and season, so check before jumping. No fee, no restrooms, no lifeguard, and the rocks get slick when wet.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
