About this spot
High Falls Park is a free county park in Grove Oak, near Geraldine, Alabama (DeKalb County), open daily 10am-6pm with free admission and parking. Town Creek spills 35 feet over a 300-foot-wide sandstone ledge, and jumpers use a large cliff just past the main falls above a deep pool - one of the few named Alabama waterfalls where cliff jumping is an accepted local activity rather than posted against. Ledge heights vary; always inspect the landing pool yourself, since creek depth and submerged rock shift with rainfall. Rock near the falls gets slick, and current picks up noticeably after storms. There's no lifeguard on site, so treat it as jump-at-your-own-risk despite the park's welcoming, family-friendly reputation.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
