About this spot
Grasshopper Point is a US Forest Service day-use site in Oak Creek Canyon about 2 miles north of Sedona, with a deep creek-bend pool beneath red-rock ledges that's long been a popular (if officially discouraged) cliff-jumping spot. Entry is $15 per vehicle (up to 5 people, $4/extra person), 8am-6pm in summer with gate open to dusk; the small lot fills fast and closes to new arrivals when full. The Forest Service warns the pool has hidden rocks and uneven depth. As of mid-2026 the site is temporarily closed following the Pocket Fire, due to post-fire flash-flood and debris-flow risk in the burned watershed above -- no reopening date was announced as of early August; check current Coconino National Forest alerts before heading out.
