About this spot
From Gilbert and Phoenix, travel north on AZ-87 toward Winslow. Before reaching Winslow, turn east toward McHood Park and continue for approximately seven miles. You'll encounter a bridge with the creek flowing beneath it. Continue past the bridge and bear right. Within the next 1/8 to 1/4 mile, select a parking spot and make your way down to the creek. Local residents can direct you to the main jump sites known as "Crown" and "Dinosaur," which are located near "Flat Rock." The cliff formations extend considerably along this stretch, making self-exploration feasible if you prefer to scout independently.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
