About this spot
Eagle's Nest Falls is a two-tiered waterfall in the McIlroy Madison County Wildlife Management Area near Huntsville, locally also called Fish Trap Falls. Park at the Kings River Overlook trailhead and follow the overlook trail about a mile, taking a spur down the bluff to the falls; the main drop is roughly 41 feet, with a smaller angled cascade beside it and a large shelter cave at the base. Multiple hikers report swimming in the clear pool below during good flow, though the falls run seasonally and can be dry after dry spells. The real hazard is the bluff-top approach: the rock edge is slick and steep with a long drop, and the scramble down to the base is loose and exposed, so keep kids back from the rim and skip it after rain.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
