About this spot

Pruitt is a real, popular swimming and cliff-jumping access point on the Buffalo National River in Newton County, Arkansas, about 14 miles south of Harrison on Highway 7 near the Pruitt Ranger Station. Park along the road before the river bridge and follow a short trail, roughly 200 yards, down to the bluff, which offers multiple jump options from about 5 to 35 feet suited to different comfort levels. Water depth swings with the season and recent rainfall, so check current conditions before jumping; shallow spots and submerged gravel bars are the main hazard on the Buffalo.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
