About this spot
Alan Davis Beach sits on the Kaiwi coast below Makapuu — park at the Makapuu Lighthouse trailhead lot off Kalanianaole Highway and take the flat, easy 15-20 minute walk on the old road toward the shoreline. The famous jump feature has a long history: the state removed the original utility-pole diving plank back in 2011, and improvised wooden planks have come and gone since — but with or without a plank, the low rock ledge is still an easy, fun jump into a pretty, mostly protected little cove that's friendly for newer jumpers. Sandy-bottomed but shallow in spots, so check depth where you land; conditions get rougher when east swell wraps in. No facilities, no shade, no lifeguard — bring water.
