About this spot
A pair of islands situated roughly a quarter mile from Kailua's coast, the Mokes offer jumps ranging from 30 to 60 feet. Access requires kayaking from either Kailua or Lanikai beaches to reach the larger island positioned on the left side. Beach your kayak and traverse the island's perimeter toward the left—wear footwear as the rocky terrain is extremely sharp. The cliff faces are located on the far side of the island. Multiple jump locations exist, though reaching them demands climbing that can feel more intimidating than the actual jump itself. Pay attention to wave conditions before jumping, as water movement can affect safety and landing zones.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
