About this spot

Lanai Lookout is a real, well-known scenic pullout on Kalanianaole Highway in Hawaii Kai, popular for whale-watching and as an advanced cliff-jumping access point. 'Wahi Nana Lele' is not an established local name for it. A roughly 75-yard tunnel runs under the highway to a ledge where locals jump; the exact entry point takes local knowledge and isn't obvious from the lookout itself. Waves here can be unpredictable — stay back from wet or exposed edges, and treat any jump as advanced-only with no lifeguards nearby. Parking is free in the highway-side lot, and the lookout itself is open and legal to visit; the jump below is unofficial and used at your own risk, ideally with someone who knows current conditions.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
