About this spot
Pulpit Falls sits on the North Fork French Broad River near Balsam Grove, just south of Beech Gap off NC-215, near the Living Waters Ministry property. Park in the gravel pullout off NC-215 and take a short ~0.1-mile path downstream to a rock-wall overlook directly above the falls. Documented in regional waterfall hiking guides (dwhike, ncwaterfalls) as a viewpoint feature rather than a swim/jump destination — access is from above the falls, not into a plunge pool. No cliff-jumping or swimming-hole culture is documented here; treat it as a scenic stop, not a jump spot, until a contributor reports otherwise.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
