About this spot

Townhouse Falls (also called Townhouse Branch Falls) is a 30+ foot waterfall on Townhouse Branch just before it meets the Nantahala River, reached by an easy ~2-mile round-trip hike across from the Nantahala Outdoor Center near Bryson City, including a stretch through a railroad tunnel. Multiple hiking guides describe it as a scenic, 'serene' creekside destination, but none mention swimming or jumping here — the Nantahala River itself nearby is popular for rafting/tubing, which may be conflated with this spot. Treat as a scenic waterfall stop pending confirmed swim/jump reports.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
