About this spot
Lower Greasy Cove Falls is one of four major waterfalls on Greasy Cove Prong in the Shining Rock Wilderness area of Pisgah National Forest near Canton, NC. It is reached only by sustained off-trail hiking and creek-walking; trip reports describe it as a remote, arduous bushwhack with no maintained trail, parking, or facilities. No documented swimming or jumping culture — visited mainly by waterfall enthusiasts, not swimmers.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
