About this spot

A roughly 30-foot plunge where the Whitewater River exits a narrow slot canyon in Nantahala National Forest, landing in a pool with a sandy beach. No maintained trail serves this stretch — reaching it means unmarked bushwhacking and river wading through rugged, remote terrain that guides describe as best left to experienced hikers, with water levels rising fast after rain. Swimming appears feasible at the pool, but no documented cliff-jumping culture was found.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
