About this spot
Toxaway Shoals sits deep in the Toxaway River gorge inside NC Wildlife Resources Commission's Toxaway Game Land, a rugged 5,000-acre tract adjoining Gorges State Park. Satellite imagery confirms rapids/shoal terrain at this exact pin, with a narrow footpath crossing nearby. Access is foot-only via Gorges State Park's gated entrance and unmaintained game-land roads; there is no roadside pull-off. Lake Toxaway itself, upstream, is a private lake with no public access. Water here moves fast over exposed rock in a steep-walled gorge, and cell service is nonexistent. No cliff-jumping or swimming reports were found under this name; treat any pool as whitewater terrain, not a swim spot, until scouted in person.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
