About this spot
Hidden Dome Falls is named in NC waterfall guidebooks as one of the farthest waterfalls on the Thompson River tributary hike near Sapphire -- described as "for hardcore waterfall junkies only." The 8+ mile route is largely unmaintained with downed trees, and requires a river ford that guides warn can run "swift and deadly" at high water. No swimming or jumping culture is documented; this is a photography/bagging destination, not a swim spot.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
