About this spot
Backcountry cascade on Gunter Fork in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, reached via a long (6+ mile) hike off Big Creek Trail. Multiple hiking guides describe a plunge pool suited to a summer swim, plus a separate 150-ft sheet cascade further up. No documented cliff-jump culture. GSMNP treats rock jumping as a finable offense and discourages swimming near falls generally; creek crossings en route can be hazardous after rain.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
