About this spot

Long Creek Falls is a 25-50 foot cascade (sources vary on height) on Long Creek just above its confluence with the Chattooga River, in the Andrew Pickens Ranger District of Sumter National Forest near the SC/GA state line. It's reached via an unofficial, unmarked route of roughly 1.5-3.3 miles round trip depending on approach, with a steep, sometimes debris-choked final descent. At the base, a sandy beach and a wide plunge pool make it an established local swimming spot: independent guides (SC Picture Project, regional trail sites) separately describe it as a popular place for hikers and rafters to cool off and picnic, and it carries nearly 700 AllTrails reviews. The hazard that matters: current and pool depth shift quickly with Chattooga River levels and after rain, and the unmaintained trail has no signage, cell service, or lifeguard. It sits on public national forest land, so access is legal.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly.
