About this spot
Andrew Ramey Falls (also called Upper Fall Creek Falls) drops on Fall Creek in Sumter National Forest near Mountain Rest, SC. A roughly 30-foot cascade, with upper cascades adding another 20 feet, empties into a shallow, pebble-bottomed pool good for wading and cooling off. From a pull-off on Fall Creek Road it's a short but steep scramble — maybe 50 yards — down slick, root-covered ground to the base, so footing matters more than the jump. Multiple independent hiking guides document the swimming hole here. It sits on public national forest land with no fee or closure, but there's no lifeguard, no cell service, and rocks stay slippery even in dry weather. Watch for downed trees on the unmaintained approach.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
