About this spot
Also known as Eastatoe Falls, this ~60-ft cascade squeezes Eastatoe Creek into a narrow rock chute in Eastatoe Creek Heritage Preserve near Sunset, SC, off US-178. A steep, stepped trail drops into the gorge to a viewing platform, installed because the chute itself is hazardous — hikers have been hurt trying to get closer to the water. Some rock-hopping/wading is described, but no cliff-jumping or swimming-hole culture is documented; treat this as a scenic overlook rather than a swim spot.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
