About this spot

This quarry location sits near Fredericksburg, close to Mary Washington University, and shares the area with runners and mountain bikers. Access via Route 3: turn onto Bragg Road opposite the mall (leftward if traveling east, rightward if traveling west). Continue 0.9 miles as Bragg Road becomes Fall Hill Avenue. Follow for 1.9 additional miles to a parking area on your right before reaching the river. Alternatively from Route 1: turn onto Fall Hill Avenue (rightward if heading south, leftward if heading north) and proceed 0.6 miles to parking on your left. From the lot, expect roughly 1.5 miles of walking to reach the quarry. Cross the road and walk the trail beside the canal. The path offers pleasant swimming areas along the river. Upon arriving at the quarry, the jump formations lie directly ahead. Take the right-side trail running nearest the quarry edge and watch for ropes on your left. The descent to the jumps is steep, with ropes installed by visitors to assist the climb. The initial rock formation serves as the smaller jump; staying right along the cliff edge provides access to the larger jump.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
