About this spot
Diana's Pool sits on the Natchaug River off Diana's Pool Road in Chaplin, with a small dirt lot holding six to eight cars. A cliff roughly 30-35 feet high stands beside the bridge and has long drawn jumpers, though depth varies with rainfall and season, so scout before committing. The pool itself has several smaller cascades and calmer pockets used for wading and fishing. The main hazard is submerged rock and fluctuating water levels after storms; check depth every visit, never dive headfirst. Legally, the state posted a swimming ban here years ago after crowding and safety incidents, and that ban has never been lifted, so jumping happens in a legal gray zone despite being a known local tradition.
