About this spot

East Lyme Quarry sits behind the East Lyme Transfer Station off Roxbury Road in Niantic, at the end of the landfill access road near a water tower. Park near the transfer station (respect posted hours) and walk in on the access road to the flooded quarry pit. A smaller ledge runs about 20 feet, with a bigger jump - reached by continuing toward the tower - around 60 feet. Quarry water is typically deep and cold, but visibility is poor and submerged equipment or rock shelves are a known quarry hazard that hasn't been mapped here. The site sits on town landfill property, so access is technically unauthorized; there's no lifeguard, signage, or maintained trail.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
