About this spot

This spot sits at the Stillwater Bridge over the Deerfield River, reached via I-91 to exit 24, then Routes 5/10 and 116 to Stillwater Road, where a small lot leads to a beach area. From the beach, swim the mild current to reach cliffs on the far bank running 20-30 feet, plus a 10-15-foot rope swing in deep water; a nearby bridge offers an unofficial 40-foot jump, though a posted sign warns of a $50-100 fine or arrest for bridge jumping. Water is deep in the jump zones but current and cold, snowmelt-fed temperatures vary by season, so scout conditions before committing. This is an unofficial, informally-tolerated swimming hole rather than a managed recreation site.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
