About this spot

Doane's Falls is a series of five drops along a 0.2-mile stretch of Lawrence Brook in a Trustees of Reservations preserve in Royalston, MA, reached via an easy trail off the Tully Lake Loop. Jumping and swimming were historically common but were officially banned in 2002 after a string of diving injuries and at least four drowning deaths, three from jumping; the Trustees now post the pools as off-limits and enforce it. Treat this as a scenic-only stop, not a swim spot.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
