About this spot

Profile Falls is a wide, roughly 30-foot drop on the Smith River in Bristol/Hill, NH, on US Army Corps of Engineers flood-control land below Franklin Falls Dam. Park at the small lot off Mountain Hill Road/Profile Falls Road and walk under a quarter mile on an easy, well-used trail (steep banks, can be buggy). The site has picnic tables, grills, and restrooms, and is popular for swimming, rock hopping, and cliff jumping into the plunge pool below the falls. Flow and pool depth swing with dam releases upstream, so check current conditions before jumping and expect slick, algae-covered rock. No fee for day use; parking is limited on busy summer weekends.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
