About this spot
Known locally as "The Quarries," this former Swenson Granite operation on Rattlesnake Hill has filled with cold, clear spring water and become one of Concord's best-known swimming holes. Many visitors park near Calvary Cemetery's rear lot off N. State St. and follow an unmarked trail into the woods; the path is unsigned and easy to miss. Rock ledges offer jumps up to roughly 40 feet, with lower ledges better for casual swimmers. Depth varies sharply between ledges and submerged quarry debris is a real risk, so scout before jumping. Legality is genuinely unsettled — city, state, and police have each punted responsibility to the others — so use is tolerated but not sanctioned.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
