About this spot
Maple Spring Branch Falls is an 80 ft waterfall in Gorges State Park (Transylvania County, NC) where Maple Spring Branch meets Augur Fork Creek. It's reached via the Augur Hole Trail, about a 2.5-mile hike from the Frozen Creek Road parking area west of Brevard. No swimming or jumping culture is documented; it reads as a scenic trail-hike waterfall rather than a swimming hole. Hazards: a long approach hike, steep and potentially slick terrain near the confluence, and limited cell coverage in the gorge. Free state park access, but check Gorges State Park trail conditions before visiting.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
