About this spot
Upper Maple Spring Branch Falls sits in the remote eastern section of Gorges State Park, near where Maple Spring Branch meets Auger Fork Creek (the main falls there drops about 80 feet). Reaching it from the Frozen Creek access area is a difficult, roughly 5-mile round trip involving off-trail bushwhacking along a ridge and creek. No swimming or jumping culture is documented, and the unmarked, difficult route itself is the main hazard.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
