About this spot
Bridal Veil Falls sits in DuPont State Recreational Forest near Cedar Mountain, NC, reached by an easy half-mile walk on wide gravel roads from the Fawn Lake or Buck Forest parking areas. The Little River slides about 120 feet down a broad granite slab into shallow pools at the base — the pool made famous when Katniss dives in during The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Swimming in the calm lower pool is popular in summer, and a walkway lets visitors pass behind part of the falls. The real hazard is the slick granite slope itself: injuries from people climbing or sliding the rock face led forest managers to close the slab to foot traffic, so admire the falls and pool from the marked viewing areas only, not from the rock. No fee; forest gates close at dusk.
