About this spot

Two-tiered falls (a ~30ft upper drop and a ~50ft lower tier that empties directly into the Chattooga River) on the same short Chattooga Trail hike as neighboring Pigpen Falls, in Sumter National Forest near Mountain Rest, SC. Sources are explicit that there is no true swimming area here -- the sandy-bottomed pool at the base is shallow, good for wading rather than swimming or jumping. Public national forest land; easy to view, but the descent to the base is steep and difficult.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
