About this spot

Lohr's Falls is a roughly 35-55 ft (sources vary) waterfall above Yellow Branch Falls near Mountain Rest, SC, in Sumter National Forest. It was found by the Lohr family after a wrong turn returning from Yellow Branch, and it's still reached the same informal way: a strenuous, unmarked hike of about a mile with bushwhacking from the Yellow Branch Recreation Area lot off Highway 28. No swimming or jumping culture is documented here. Hazards: no marked trail, steep and slick footing near the falls, and the risk of getting turned around off-trail. Free to visit as part of the national forest, with no facilities at the falls itself.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
