About this spot
Melton Hill Park sits on a peninsula in the Clinch River (Melton Hill Lake) near Oak Ridge, reached from Knoxville via Hardin Valley Road; the park has marked signage, two boat ramps, a fishing pier, and a sand swim beach, plus a paved greenway. Off the peninsula's edge, sheer river-cut cliffs draw regular cliff jumpers, and it's genuinely popular on summer weekends. It's also genuinely dangerous — a 22-year-old man drowned here after jumping in 2018, and local reporting has repeatedly warned that the murky water hides submerged debris and rock even in spots people have jumped before. No fee for day use; nothing here is officially sanctioned for jumping.
