About this spot
Stinging Fork Falls is a 30-foot waterfall in a 783-acre state natural area west of Spring City, TN, reached by a ~1-mile trail off Shut-In Gap Road. It feeds a clear blue-green swimming hole in a narrow gorge. One established outdoor guide (Outdoor Project) lists cliff jumping here as not permitted/recommended, so treat this as a swim spot rather than a confirmed jump spot; ledges around the plunge pool make jumping physically possible but it is not an endorsed activity. Trail can be slick after rain.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
